This website was created with the goal in mind to allow my peers and future employers to get to know me better.
So, who am I?
My name is Ali Knowles! I am 26 years old and I am currently located in Durham, North Carolina.

Since a very young age, I have expressed myself through various forms of art. ​ I was homeschooled from the 1st to the 7th grade. On paper, I never performed the greatest in school, but where I truly thrived was in creative spaces. Looking back, I am able to see that my interest in creative media developed as I explored various forms of expression throughout my early adolescence. I started creating YouTube videos, in which I would create props, write scripts, film, edit, and post them. Eventually, by the age of 11, I had accumulated a small audience of nearly one thousand subscribers (954, but 1,000 if we round up). By high school I was filming and editing all of my trips, and later became the Marketing Chair for my a-cappella group. In college, I was the Director of Marketing for my sorority, Chi Omega, a role that required regular creative work and full management of the chapter’s social media. My job as Marketing Director was to brand us in a way that encouraged women to join our organization, upholding and representing our values as an organization, all while also tirelessly explaining to my peers that “I will not be posting pictures with beer in the background”. These moments are tiny but mighty, because each one of them has led me to figuring out my true passion for creative communications and marketing. All of these tiny pivotal moments have somehow shown themselves in my career: from writing small YouTube skits, to now running my own business.

I went on to receive a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, and later completed an 18-week certification program through UNC Chapel Hill’s Digital Marketing Boot Camp. During, I was exposed to various forms of digital marketing, all of which only furthered my desire to learn more outside of the course. It was during this program that I had my ‘aha moment’. I realized that the assignments I was doing no longer felt like a burden, the three hour classes on long nights seemed to speed by, and more than anything, I truly enjoyed everything I was doing. In this moment I realized that I had finally discovered what I wanted to choose to spend the rest of my life doing, which is being creative through various forms of media in the marketing communications space. Upon this realization was when I decided to pursue a master's degree, which I would later earn from the University of Southern California.

All of my previous experience has shaped who I am today. In running my business, I am the CEO, CFO, HR, PR, Marketing Department, Advertising, Sales, and more. Building and operating my own business has given me invaluable experience that I will treasure for the rest of my life! In doing so, I have demonstrated extensive skills in interpersonal communication, project management, self-discipline, and so much more.

If I had to use one word to describe myself, it would be resilient. This feature of mine presents itself in my day-to-day and throughout my career.
My ability to pick myself up, re-evaluate, and keep going is what I believe makes me an asset to any company.
